Heraldic description of the coat of arms

The coat of arms of the Town of Lens is coloured azure (blue). Inside, a golden castle made up of one large crenellated tower with openings and two smaller towers to either side. There are two golden fleurs de lys to either side of the castle. The coat of arms has a golden mural crown timbre with 4 crenellated towers supported by two golden palm leaves surrounding the coat of arms with crossed stems.

The medals of the Town of LENS hang at the base of the coat of arms fixed to the palm leaves in the following order:

  • at the centre: the cross of the knight of the Legion of Honour (decree dated 30th August 1919)
  • to the left: the croix de guerre 1914 - 1918 with palm leaf (decree dated 30th August 1919)
  • to the right: the croix de guerre 1939 - 1945 with palm leaf (decision no. 79 dated 11th November 1948).
